Take a Scotty’s Chopper frame and use it as the backbone for a Gold Coast Choppers built bike and the end result is one very cool looking custom softail chopper. With Scotty’s guards, oil tank and fuel tank thrown into the mix and sporting a 3D flame overlay on each piece certainly brings another dimension to the overall appearance of this machine.
The bike came into fruition when the guys from GCC noted a steady influx of imported, loosely termed “choppers” coming onto the scene. That’s when Rick came up with the idea of building a bike that accommodates the following points: an affordable price, a pleasure to ride, one of a kind and most important, can be registered. It just so happened that Rick and the boys had one of Scotty’s frame kits in stock.
So the build begun….
A fully polished S&S evo 96 cube engine is used for the power plant. With Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes handling the exhaust duties. The 6 speed gearbox is a right side drive to make sure the bike is kept well balanced. When you have a 250mm tyre on the rear the last thing you want is an offset left hand drive tranny dictating the direction you ride. With a hydraulic clutch added in for good measure it certainly makes changing gears a breeze. The front end is a Mean Street 63mm inverted forks job controlled by a set Burleigh Bars with Zodiac controls. The Acewell speedo compliments the rest of the front end nicely.
One thing I have noticed over the years is that Rick has always had the best brakes on bikes that he has built, one of many of his signatures if you like. This bike is no exception with four piston Performance Machine calipers front and rear. Performance Machine “Hooligan” 21” front wheel and 18” rear with matching rotors and pulley certainly shows no sign of skimping on quality. Forward controls are Performance Machine as well.
The paint was done by Craig from Custom Spray Painting Concepts. What can I say, as always a very professional job.
To sum up, the quality of workmanship and the overall build quality of this bike and all the others Rick has built comes from a lifetime of experience of keeping bikes on the road. It ain’t no Orange County mechcano set bike by any means.
This bike is finished and now up for sale complied, registered and ride away for $69,990.
So, next time you are in the shop make sure you take the time and check this bike out.
Sorry SOLD.....
