V-ROD HOT ROD... words Roscoe, pics Rod

V-rods, People love em or hate em, I on the other hand are still undecided. I like riding them and performance wise they are o.k. They are definitely a cruiser not a scratcher and the exhaust systems are just begging to be chopped off and replaced but that's my thing, I like making wild pipes. Well this particular V-Rod is a 03 Owned by a long term customer and up until august 06 we had only ever serviced it, the only mods were paint as you see it and screaming chicken mufflers. Blame the current fat tyre craze, coz when Harro saw another customers V-rod that we had fitted a 240 kit to, he said I want to make my bike look different with a " fat arse " I said " I know this girl with a really f—f---a--- ! " he said " no I mean a wide tyre I said “well, it just so happens that Performance Machine have a phatail kit to suit a 280 tyre”.

So Harro went straight out to see Geoff our parts manager and PM wheel ordering guru. The kit was ordered along with the wheels a matching pulley and rear rotor a 4 pot caliper and of course the stock front end will look pretty ordinary with the blingy wheel so lots of chrome while we are at it. The parts turned up and we ripped open the boxes to check-out how comprehensive the PM kit was. We were impressed to say the least. Instructions were included. Throw them aside if it gets hard later we might use them.

Well Richard handed me the task of outfitting Harro's hot-rod. I thought it was because of my good looks and charm, but no! It was because I had done the 240 tyre kit so I was the obvious choice. Well the back end was pretty easy, the kit actually fits damn well, just a few mods to fit that new guard. We modded the stock seat to suit, thanks to Steve. The guard was drilled for indicators and sent to Eddie for the matching paint scheme. The front end was stripped, triple trees and fork lowers were sent away for Chroming. T-bars were set in place along with the Dakota Digital dash. The headlight was replaced with a wave light from custom chrome which required a billet mount to suit, made buy yours truly.

It all went together pretty easy, that PM stuff is at the top-end of the price range but it is the highest quality bling money can buy. The differences between the 240280 kits, the PM swingarm are their own casting and very beautiful, the European 240 kit is a modified stock Harley swingarm.

Harro's Hot-Rod is good to ride too, sure you notice the Fat - Arse when throwing it around corners but nowhere as bad as I thought it would be. A very cool Hot Rod - V Rod…. Roscoe.
